My Grandmother Lily had a very full background of family. Her father, Leonard Trundle, was born in Derbyshire, her mother Hannah Hall was born in Wigan, and somewhere along their lives each family moved to Woodhouse in Yorks. Here, Leonard met Hannah and they married. They had their first two children in Woodhouse, then a son in Wigan, then back again to Woodhouse for Lily's birth, then for reasons possibly to do with work they moved to Wigan. Upon moving to Wigan they went on to have a further 8 children. Grandma Lily was the eldest of the girls. There were 6 boys and 6 girls. Jabez,William,Edward and Lily (born in York) then Nellie, Elizabeth,Leonard,Joseph,Harry,Ella,Arthur and finally another Leonard. You may think this is strange to call two sons by the same name. This was because the elder Leonard died when he was 4 years old in 1907, the youngest Leonard was the last child to be born in 1917. I use to think that Grandma Lily was a tyrant when I was younger, but it is only now I know her background, that I know why she was as she was. Her family ALWAYS came first. I have been researching the family trees on both sides of my Grandparents and have come up with some pretty amazing results. Grandma Lily met and married my Granddad Robert in 1919 and they went on to have ten children, one of whom was my mother Edna. My son married and became step-dad to three children (almost grown up) and the youngest daughter is now having a child in Jan (after losing Paul Leon Louis in 2007). She has said that if it's a girl, she will be called Lily. Grandma Lily would be so chuffed. You're back with most of your family now Grandma, enjoy. God bless xxxxxxxxxxxx Kathleen xxxxxxxx ps. Thank you for allowing me to stay in the family. xxxxxxxxxxx

It's only now Grandma that I know that for everytime you chastised me, there was a reason. If there's anything in my life that's worth anything at all, it's the "common sense" I got from you. I don't always use it, and that's when I get into trouble. I now remember so many things about you Grandma that I had forgotten. I found Great Granddad Leonard and Great Grandma Hannah's final resting place at Christmas, sadly I haven't been able to go back yet. But I will. Tell them about me. I wish that I could have met them, but I feel I know so much about them by the researching. Your lives must have been so hard. I thank God that you were my Grandma. Zoe is going to call the new baby Lily (if it's a girl). So, we may have another Lily in the family. I'll tell her (or him) all about you and Granddad. Love to everyone. xxxxx Kathleen xxxxxxxxx
